Made for those that find the GTI underpowered, the Golf R with its 270HP 2.0-liter turbo-four is the most potent and fastest-accelerating Golf ever to be produced by VW. Still, that's not enough for certain buyers that wouldn't mind a few extra ponies. And here's were tuners like MR Car Design come into the picture.

Enter the tuning firm's new "MR6R" power kit, which adds a reprogrammed ECU, custom downpipe, intercooler and a sports exhaust system to boost the TSI's output from 270HP and 350Nm to 330HP and 470Nm. The German company did not release acceleration numbers, but we'll assume that with this kit, the Golf R will improve the stock model's 5.7 second time for the 100km/h mark.

Also available from MR Car Design are new 19-inch wheels wrapped in 235/35-19 rubber and a set of H&R sports springs.

Red Devil is the name German tuning firm 'Wimmer RS' chose for its latest take on the Volkswagen Golf R. 'Red' because of the color chosen for the car, and 'Devil' because this Golf R packs a sinister punch under the hood...

In stock form, the all-wheel drive Golf R rolls out of VW's factory with a 2.0-liter TFSI producing 270-hp and 350Nm / 258 lbs-ft of maximum torque. After Wimmer RS's engineers perform their magic, those numbers increase to a whopping 478-hp and 610Nm or 450 lbs-ft.

The extra power comes from a variety of mods including -but not limited to- changes to the turbocharger, ECU, air intake, injection nozzles and exhaust system.

According to the tuning house, the upgraded Golf R can reach an electronically limited top speed of 291 km/h or 181 mph.

Additional performance enhancements include a coil-over suspension set and more potent braking system.

Volkswagen Jetta

Volkswagen launch the Jetta sedan in US which will be available this October with prices starting at $15,995.

The new Jetta's crispier exterior styling with the Audi-esque rear-end and Scirocco-like fascia was inspired / previewed by the NCC coupe concept car shown at the Detroit Show this past January.

For the first time, the new Jetta will not be sharing any body components with its Golf brethren, though underneath, the two models share most parts as the four-door sedan uses a modified version of the Golf's architecture.

The saloon's dimensions have been re-proportioned compared with those of the concept car and the outgoing Jetta model. The 2011 Jetta measures 182.7 inches (4.64 meters) long, 57.1 inches (1.45 meters) tall and 70.1 inches (1.78 meters) wide, making it 3.54 inches or 90mm longer than the previous model.

In addition, it also boasts a 2.76-in. or 70mm longer wheelbase with obvious benefits for passenger space. According to Volkswagen, legroom is now a 38.1 inches or 967 mm, which represents a gain of 2.6 inches 67 mm over the outgoing Jetta.

Inside, the 2011 Jetta's interior styling is far less refreshing than the exterior. In fact, it's as if [almost] nothing changed over the outgoing model. Even the instrument cluster looks eerily similar as VW did not go for the deeply recessed main dials of the Golf VI opting instead for a more plain looking instrument panel.

In Europe, the new Jetta will eventually be offered with a total of six engines, all turbocharged. The petrol range includes the 105HP 1.2-liter TSI, 122HP 1.4-liter TSI, 160HP 1.4-liter TSI and the 200HP 2.0-liter TSI.

Diesel fans will get two common rail units, a 105HP 1.6-liter TDI and a 140HP 2.0 TDI. Except for the 1.2 TSI, all engines may be paired with either a 6-speed or 7-speed (depending on the model) DSG dual clutch transmission.

The 1.2 TSI petrol and 1.6 TDI diesel are also equipped with the BlueMotion Technology package that includes a Start-Stop system and battery regeneration.

Volkswagen claims that the 1.2 TSI BlueMotion Technology model consumes 5.3 lt/100 km (44.3mpg US or 53.3mpg UK)with 123 g/km CO2, while the 1.6 TDI BlueMotion Technology attains a combined fuel consumption of just 4.1 l/100 km (57.3mpg US or 68.9mpg UK) with 109 g/km CO2.

Unfortunately for North American consumers, VW will not offer (or at least not for the time being) the 1.2 TSI and 1.4 TSI petrol units. Instead, U.S. and Canadian buyers will continue to get the same ol' 2.5-liter five-cylinder petrol found on the outgoing model.

Other powerplant options will include a 2.0-liter turbodiesel featuring common rail injection with 236 lbs-ft. of torque (320Nm) that can propel the car from 0 to 60mph in 8.7 seconds, a 2.0-liter naturally aspirated petrol, and from 2011, a range-topping 2.0-liter TSI turbocharged petrol.

All Jetta engines will be equipped with a manual transmission as standard with automatic transmissions offered as an option. On the new 2.0-liter TDI and 2.0-liter TSI, Volkswagen will offer the 6-speed DSG.

Another version of Golf GTi was unveiled in Wörthersee and it is sporty in all sense having Adidas design elements being splash all over the Golf.

The three- or five-door car features an interior inspired by adidas footwear, including two-tone sport cloth and leather seats that feature the shoe brand's three-stripe trademark. The brand's logo is also emblazoned on the exterior of the car, at the B-pillar. Aside from the GTI's standard equipment, the car comes with smoked lenses over the rear LED lights, and cornering bi-xenon headlights.

Riding on 18-inch "Serron" alloys, the car also includes the Light & Sight package, dual zone climate control, tire pressure monitoring, and a nifty golf ball-inspired shift grip (only on the DSG). The car can only be purchased in Black Uni, Candy White, Tornado Red, or the higher-priced Oryx White. It uses a 155 kW (210 PS) turbocharged engine to power it to a 240 km/h top speed.

Sales of the Volkswagen Golf GTI adidas will begin next month for European markets, with exported models also being sold in Australia and the United States

Making its debut at the annual GTi event in Wörthersee, the Volkswagen GTI Excessive features a series of motorsport-inspired add-on parts that the German firm says could make it into the catalogue of Volkswagen Original Accessories if there's enough interest from the public.

Finished in the same fire-red "Firespark Metallic" as last year's Golf GTI Wörthersee 09, the GTI Excessive gets a new bodykit trimmed in high-gloss black piano paint. The add-on parts include a front splitter beneath the front apron, side sills and rear diffuser and splitter, and flared wheel wells that add 30mm per side.

There's also a new rear spoiler painted in body colour that integrates a very narrow strip of LED brake lights along its full width, while the roof was upgraded with black piano paint.

The widened wheel arches house new 19-inch BBS lightweight rims finished in a black shade fitted in tires size 235/35 ZR19. Volkswagen also equipped the show car with new brake callipers featuring the "GTI / Wörthersee 2010" logos.

Interior upgrades include decorative brushed aluminium trim and glossy black painted frames for the vent nozzles, framed floor mats in red piping. and the modified sport comfort seats with integrated head restraints that feature black Nappa for the outer areas and flash-red Nappa for the lateral seat supports.

In terms of performance, the only upgrade includes a new exhaust system that adds an extra 4-horsepower bumping output to 214HP and 286Nm.
