Some may like the all-new, second generation VW Touareg the way it leaves the factory, but for those that wouldn't mind sprucing it up a bit, German tuning firm JE Design has released its first line of enhancements for the SUV model.

For the time being, the only available engine kit is for the 4.2-liter TDI V8 diesel unit that increases output from 340HP and 800Nm of torque to 410HP and a monstrous 930Nm or 686 lbs-ft, respectively. As a result, 0-100km/h (62mph) drops from 5.8 seconds to 5.4 seconds while top speed is increased from 242km/h to 269km/h or 167mph.

The SUV's suspension is upgraded with an electronic lowering module that brings the vehicle 35mm closer to the ground.

An aerodynamic kit for aesthetics and airflow purposes is available for all Touareg models, and includes a new front grille and spoiler, wheel arch extensions, a rear apron and a roof spoiler. The treatment also comes with custom exhaust tail pipes and a choice of alloy wheels shod in sticky new tires.

Detroit Auto Show: Volkswagen Passat CC four door coupe unveiled

Detroit Auto Show: Volkswagen Passat CC four door coupe unveiled

Volkswan Passat CC

Honestly, I never believed I will like this car and I was expecting this car to see what Volkswagen will come up with. And my expectations were confirmed: I don’t like it at all. First of all, I don’t get it, why would Volkswagen try to come up with something similar to the Mercedes Benz CLS? And second…it’s ugly. I mean, the front is pretty cool, but what’s with that rear?

Anyways, for those of you which like it, you should know that the car will be available with several engines, starting with a 160 hp 1.8-litre TSI unit, while the top of the line is a 3.6-litre V6 FSI model producing 300 hp. A premiere is that the Passat CC will feature Volkswagen’s new lane hold assist system (if the vehicle appears to be inadvertently leave the lane, the assistance system provides corrective steer control).

‘The core markets are North America, Western Europe and Japan. The Passat CC, built in the German Volkswagen plant in Emden, will initially be launched in the second quarter of the year in Europe and then from the fourth quarter in the USA and Canada and later Japan.

Chicago 2008: Yes, oh YES! That's one beautiful roadster

Chicago 2008: Yes, oh YES! That's one beautiful roadster

It wasn't until we saw the YES! 3.2 Roadster today at the Chicago Auto Show that we remembered seeing it some time ago. Something about the orange 3.2 Turbo model rang a bell and we recalled that soggy day last June when we saw it in the pits at Goodwood. The YES! reps confirmed that we had indeed seen a Roadster at the Festival of Speed, shortly after it had been introduced as the replacement for the previous 1.8 model. The vehicles YES! is showing here in Chicago are the second generation Roadsters, in turbo and NA form. Now, lest you think these guys are bad at math, that 3.2 actually refers to the 3.2L V6 residing in the boot. Funke & Will AG, the folks behind YES!, have done a lot of development work on the car and now even offer it with an optional hard top for cold climates. But it's not really about the hardtop.

Fitted with the base 255HP version of the VW-sourced mill, this one-ton sportscar can hit 60 from a standstill in just 4.8 seconds. Think of it as a German built Lotus Elise S. And If that's not enough for you, they can slap a turbo on it for you so you can see how 355HP suits your needs. That will drop the 0-60 sprint below four seconds, but it can still be bettered by checking a few more boxes and opting for the full-tilt boogie 415HP version, said to be good for about 200MPH given enough track. If that sounds like your kind of thing and you like the way the YES! looks in the pics, know that the company would be more than happy to take your $77,995 for a base 3.2. The Turbo brings the base price to $97,995, and going for the 415 horse option will set you back an additional $7,995 on top of that. Gulp. Certainly a lot of coin, but for something that looks to be the wild love child of a Spyker and a Lotus, we're pretty sure they'll find at least a few takers Stateside.

The full press release and a video are posted after the jump.

Chicago 2008 preview: Volkswagen Routan leaks out

Chicago 2008 preview: Volkswagen Routan leaks out
Click above for high-res gallery of the Volkswagen Routan.

Well, thanks to the German pub Autobild you can now see the collaborative efforts of Chrysler and Volkswagen in the form of the VW Routan. Unfortunately, the V-Dub van hardly harkens back to the time of the mini-bus, as everything between the A- and D-pillar is a dead ringer for the Chrysler/Dodge on which it's built. The new front fascia is attractive enough, with swooping headlamps, well-proportioned air dams and a chrome grille fitted with the VW logo, while the rear benefits from a similar tail lamp design as seen on the Touareg and Golf.

Power comes courtesy of a 3.6-liter V6, with 197 hp and 230 lb.-ft. of torque routed through a six-speed automatic transmission. Buyers can upgrade what's under the hood with a 4.0-liter V6 producing 251 hp and 259 lb.-ft. of torque. Traction control and ESP will be standard, along with dual power sliding doors, power windows and thirteen (13!) cupholders. Some of the options include a touch screen nav with a 20 gig hard-drive, power lift gate and a rear seat entertainment system with two, nine-inch screens.

Volkswagen plans to price the base Routan below the $25,000 mark and sales are expected to begin later this year.

Volkswagen Advanced Activity Concept: New Taro?

Volkswagen Advanced Activity Concept: New Taro?

Volkswagen AAC

Volkswagen used to have a pickup truck called the Volkswagen Taro back in 1989, which was essentially a badge engineered Toyota Hilux. The project was discontinued in 1996. Now Volkswagen is developing the second generation Volkswagen Taro, and it is expected to be unveiled at the end of 2009.

Volkswagen had exhibited a pickup truck concept in the early 2000s called the Volkswagen Advanced Activity Concept. It looks pretty much like the Touareg but with a pickup body form. It had an adjustable air suspension which at its highest point allows for 390mm of ground clearance, and at its lowest, 280mm.

The original Taro used a 2.4 liter Toyota diesel engine but the Volkswagen AAC used the big twin turbodiesel direct injection V10 also found in the Touareg, mated to a 6-speed Tiptronic auto and a permanent all-wheel drive system.
