Lexus chose this week's Australian International Motor Show (AIMS) for the world premiere of its CT 200h F Sport model ahead of the car's introduction to Australia in the first half of 2011 as well other markets around the world.

As with other Lexus models, the F Sport treatment adds a number of visual and performance goodies to the firm's dedicated hybrid. On the outside, the CT 200h gets a sportier looking front bumper along with a honeycomb upper grille, beefier side skirts, and a reworked rear bumper that incorporates a diffuser.

The larger alloy wheels in a gunmetal finish and the option of a unique Flame Blue color round off the exterior upgrades.

Inside, those that opt for the F Sport-badged CT 200h will receive unique dashboard and door panel trims, plus F Sport steering wheel with a thicker rim, sports pedals, scuff plates, instrument panel and privacy glass.

While there are no changes to the CT 200h's hybrid powertrain, which comprises a 1.8-litre VVT-i petrol engine, an electric motor and an electronically-controlled continuously variable transmission (E-CVT), Lexus says the F-Sport features an up-rated suspension.

While Toyota has no plans to re-enter the British Touring Car Championship (BTCC) with an official works team, the Japanese automaker has lent its support to GPR Motorsport that is building a new racing concept based on the European market and British-built Avensis sedan.

Toyota supplied GPR Motorsport with an Avensis donor car and bodyshell to build to the new specifications, which teams will be able to adopt from the 2011 racing season.

The Avensis NGTC (Next Generation Touring Car) car will make its track debut in the final round of this year's Dunlop MSA British Touring Car Championship at Brands Hatch on 9 – 10 October, driven by BTCC double champion, James Thompson

In my opinion these are one of the few Toyotas that actually looked good in this decade. The 2011 Highlander crossover made its world premiere today at this year's edition of the Moscow International Motor Show. Though Toyota is keeping its cards closed, buyers in the States should see a US launch of the facelifted crossover later this year.

The 2011 Highlander's exterior benefits significantly from a much more crisp, defined nose and headlights, along with restyled tail lamps and new bumper trim at the back. The rest of the car appears to go on mostly unchanged for the new model year.

Russian and Ukrainian buyers get a single engine option, the 3.5-liter V6 gasoline unit pumping out 273HP, matched to a five-speed automatic transmission.

In the States, powertrains and accessories should carry over from the 2010 model year, which means choosing an I4, V6, or hybrid and front- or all-wheel drive.

Chicago Auto Show: Toyota Corolla, Meet Dave [Chicago Auto Show]

corolla%20-%203.jpgWe don't remember seeing this at SEMA, because if we had, we would have made fun of it there as well. Nonetheless, the placard claims this Toyota Corolla SE Prototype was first shown at the infamous tuner show, and we claim it was first seen somewhere in a Ford studio run by Dave 'Big Balls' Horbury. Seriously -- check out that grille, somebody falling in love with the Ford Fusion much? Perhaps this is a new salvo in a developing grille wars. Whatever. We feel like maybe we should be on the look out for a restyled Ford Taurus sporting a Klingon forehead grille.

Chicago 2008: Toyota 4Runner Urban Runner not really for Urbania

The word 'urban' seems to be taking on more meanings every day. In its latest use, Toyota has applied it to a truck kitted out for something more like the Amazon rather than 'urban' civilization. Starting with a Sport Edition 4Runner, the Urban Edition gets a new audio system, a Tom Tom GPS system, Alcantara seats, and some nicely finished side steps and roof rails in black. If you have some dosh left over, you can add the Urban Edition value pack that throws in a double-decker cargo system and net, a moonroof, HomeLink, and an auto-dimming rearview mirror. Underneath, the SUV rides on an X-REAS sport enhancement suspension that's meant to improve on-road handling and performance, hence the 'Urban Runner' moniker, though all of Toyota's official images show the SUV trudging through the snow. Check out the press release after the jump, and the gallery of hi-res images below.

Click the 1/x for a high-res gallery

The Toyota 1/x (pronounced 1/xth) concept that debuted at the Tokyo Motor Show last fall is making its North American debut at the Chicago Auto Show today. The super lightweight hybrid tips the scales at a mere 926 lbs thanks to a minimalist design and extensive use of carbon fiber. The 500cc flex fuel engine is part of a plug-in hybrid powertrain that weighs only one quarter of the equivalent system in a Prius. The interior has similar interior volume to the Prius while the battery is of the lithium ion variety. One interesting benefit of the of the flyweight design is that it doesn't require much rubber on the road. That allows for reduced aerodynamic drag, rolling resistance and water splash in the rain.

Toyota Land Cruiser V8 launched in the UK

Toyota Land Cruiser V8 launched in the UK

Toyota Land Cruiser V8

The new 8th generation Toyota Land Cruiser V8 has replaced its predecessor the Land Cruiser Amazon in the UK market. It continues the Land Cruiser’s trademark body on frame construction, which Toyota says tackles tough terrain better.

The new Land Cruiser V8 is powered by a new 4.5 liter D-4D common rail turbodiesel V8 engine. It produces 282 horsepower and 650Nm from a low 1,600rpm. It is engineered to work in temperatures from -30 to 50 degrees Celcius. It channels power through a 6-speed automatic gearbox with manual sequential gear selection and a set of low ratios. New to the Land Cruiser is the world’s first four-wheel Active Height Control and Adaptive Variable Suspension (4-Wheel AHC & AVS), a fully adjustable system that also provides spring rate control. It enhances wheel articulation to a point that the Land Cruiser is able to crawl over steps with a 630mm height difference without lifting a wheel off the ground! The Land Cruiser is also able to switch from H4 to the L4 set of low ratios without stopping - at up to speeds of 4.8 km/h.

The interior seats 7, and occupants are protected by 14 airbags including front knee airbags and curtain shield airbags along the entire length of the cabin. Creature comforts include four-zone climate control air conditioning, full-map satellite navigation, Bluetooth, rear parking monitor, nine-speaker sound system with six-DVD autochanger and leather upholstery. The ICE may be upgraded to an optional JBL audio system with iPod integration and rear LCD screens for watching DVDs.
